Educational Experience: PhD, Literature & Literary Criticism: Indiana University of Pennsylvania (expected 8/2017) M.A. in English (2001): University of North Carolina at Charlotte B.A. in English (1996): University of North Carolina at Charlotte I can provide you with my current vitae if you would like further information regarding my professional background.
Experience
My strengths as an educator are that I am patient, flexible and take a personal, interested approach. I believe in empowering students and helping them find writing topics that will satisfy them as much as it satisfies the teacher. Acting as their coach, I believe in giving them responsibility for their learning, and have found that when you do, they become enthusiastic in their efforts. Improving reading is the basis for improving writing. I can assist with both. I can also assist with literary analysis and other forms of academic writing. I have taught at several universities, and I have been at my most recent for 11 years. I have also been the editor of the literary-arts journal West Trade Review for the last 10 years, and I am a creative writer as well.
