Experience

I am offering private French lessons & tutoring. I am a native french speaker, originally from Côte d'Ivoire, a former French colony of West Africa. I have been raised both in France and Côte d'Ivoire and did my education up to the Bachelor in French. I have been living in Charlotte since 07 and just obtained my Master in Latin American Studies. I would prefer tutoring at home in my study office but this is not a deal breaker. I have been teaching introduction to Latin American Studies as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the past year. Graduate Instructor – University of North Carolina at Charlotte - Department of History /Latin American Studies Program/ Introduction to Latin American Studies (two sections each semester) The course aims at fulfilling undergraduate oral requirement and I designed it as a political and historical general survey of Latin America through an Atlantic approach (geopolitically and historically connecting Europe, Africa, and the Americas). It introduces students and engages them to explore notions of colonialism, hegemony, agency, liberalism and conservatism race, gender, nation building process and their intricate complexities. • Direct responsibility for teaching two courses • Conceived, implemented, and taught two course sections, each semester • Assessed and worked to improve student learning and skill • Worked on developing students’ critical thinking and writing skills and oral communication • Counseled students on their progress in the classroom and immediate academic standing during scheduled office hours and appointments • Report progress to the Department Chair
