Experience
I am currently an special education teacher in a local school system and enjoy devoting my time outside the school day to supporting the academic needs of students in the area. I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher in the elementary schools. After I received my masters degree I taught remedial reading instruction for students in 3rd through 7th grade. My experience in the education field, knowledge of curriculum, and differentiating learning experiences to meet the needs of each student as an individual, is imperative to successful experiences. I also have experience working in the regular education field as well. I have taught students with a variety of special needs such as ODD, Bi-polar disorder, Autism, sensory disorder, emotional disturbance, exc. I make certain that each child receives individualized praise and encouragement ensuring that he/ she remains motivated and continues to be persistent towards reaching their goals.

I love to teach, love to work with students 1:1, and love to bring concepts alive and show students that they can be successful in any area, even an area of struggle. I also love to read, go for a walk and spend time with my family, friends and my 1 year old black lab named Mia! Mia loves to go on walks and play outside. Often you will find me out at the park throwing a frisbee with Mia.
