Experience
My tutoring experience is attributed to my tenure as a middle school educator (2005 - 2011). Although my initial tutoring experience was associated with my classroom, additional school positions that I held during my tenure provided opportunities to tutor - Dean of Students, School Leadership Team chair, and the school's “Kids Vote” representative. Additionally, I enrolled in the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (2006 - 2007) for professional development as an educator and to enhance my instructional delivery. Courses I completed earning an overall 4.0 GPA are as follows: Secondary School Experience, Integrated Reading and Writing Content Area, Diverse Learners, Computer Application in Education, Teaching Social Studies Middle & Secondary School, and Introduction to Anthropology. Certifications are - North Carolina educator Standard Professional II License (Social Studies; grades 6 through 9). The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research – Protecting Human Research Participants (Certification Number: 527180). Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR; Certification Number: NC05348) Prior to becoming an educator, I served as a career soldier in the United States Army for 22 and one-half years; retiring as a Command Sergeant Major (E9). This rank is the highest enlisted rank common to all of the United States military branches. Approximately half of my career was at Fort Bragg, NC in both the 82nd Airborne and XVIII Airborne Corps.
