I have been tutoring in Math for over 8 years. Throughout high school I tutored students 2-3 times a week for community service, and have been offering private tutoring since. I have a unique way of looking at equations or other math problems and explaining how to arrive at solutions in a simple and logical manner. As a child I was diagnosed with lymphoma and went through chemotherapy treatments for over a year. Do to the large amounts of chemo I was receiving as a young child, I was told my cognitive abilities would be affected. Through testing after treatment, doctors discovered that there were parts of my brain which had been altered, calling them, "blocked passages." They were very surprised however, that these had not affected my ability to learn and retain information. I was able to train my brain to work around these "blocked passages," think outside of the box, and create a new learning method that worked for me as an individual. I believe that my personal education journey provides me with a unique ability to determine the most effective way to explain procedures and therefore solutions in mathematics. I provide students with multiple ways to interpret math problems, recognize which they understand the best, and provide them with the steps to work toward a solution. I am passionate about math, but more so about providing students the skills to understand it. I have worked with dozens of students and always find pride in watching them reach their highest capability.
