Hobbies
My biggest interests are: cultural arts (music, theater, etc...), travel, and reading! I am trying to visit all 50 states (9 more to go)! I love learning about various cultures as I travel. My husband and I enjoy taking our daughters with us as we explore different US cities. I believe that reading is not only the key to academic success, but also the key to personal success in life:) I have the ability to get students excited about books - using their own hobbies and interests to tap into their desire to read. I believe that the LOVE of learning comes first, and the rest follows. Learning for the love of learning is vital. There is so much stress over taking exams and this need for "perfection" in order to achieve, that I focus on the love of learning first. I have found that scores naturally increase when desire to grow is present. Music is a huge part of my life; it has provided me with an ability that is uniquely my own self-expression. I really enjoy passing along this interest to my piano students!
