Experience

Although my degrees are related to film and video, my education was far more expansive. For prospective film students, I am educated in the production aspects of filming. However, for those more interested in English skills, my background also involved critical studies, such as formulating thoughts and/or arguments, so I have experience engaging mentally with anything ranging from movies to literature. Furthermore, my background in Critical Studies also required formal writing, so I have experience in academic writing, which may be useful to students who are struggling in writing. My predominant area of interest is English, such as literature and writing. I am a prospective student at UNCC's teaching certification program, although I already have some experience with education classes.

Hobbies

First and foremost, I am an avid learner. I find myself drawn to all sorts of books, ranging from more academic texts to the classics, such as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. I am always a huge movie fan. I'm particularly a fan of horror films, which led me to write my Master's thesis on horror franchises and the intersection of economic incentives for sequels and the narrative elements that allow Hollywood to produce so many sequels. In my downtime, I enjoy hiking with my two dogs as well as writing for my own benefit, ranging from some observational humor to the more introspective and self-reflective style of writing.
