I have a BA in Classics (from Truman State University), an MA in Latin (from UNC-Chapel Hill), and a PhD in Classics (from Rutgers University).

Experience

For the past 20 years I have taught and tutored Latin, writing courses, history courses, and ancient Greek courses of all levels and to a wide range of students, from middle school to graduate students. I have taught at private high schools and at private colleges and universities (Davidson College and Vanderbilt). For the past three years I have tutored in test preparation for the ACT and SAT, Reading and English sections. I also regularly tutor students, from middle school on up, in Latin at all levels. I enjoy teaching and take special delight in helping students reach that moment where they say 'aha! Now I get it!' I feel that the current method of instruction in America prevents many students from reaching their full academic potential and that individualized instruction is the best way to help students achieve their best in class, on tests, or on homework. I have extensive experience tutoring in person and online, and am happy to do whichever best suits your needs.

Hobbies

I enjoy reading novels, mysteries, and books on history. In my spare time I like to write short stories, cook for my family, travel all over the country, and play with my three young sons. I have lived in Rome and Germany and hope one day to take students on tours of Italy and Greece to introduce them to the monuments and ruins of ancient Rome and Greece.
