ExperienceI am a former high school English teacher and, at present, am completing my Ph.D. in urban education and literacy at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In the past, I have facilitated creative writing in various Detroit public high schools. This was my start of my career in education. I am an educator at heart and find it a joy and honor to teach and learn with others every day.
I completed my master's degree as well as a year of service with AmeriCorps in 2011 and 2012. I worked out of Duke Hospital conducting HIV/AIDS testing and prevention counseling. I am very much interested in improving the quality of the human condition in whatever facet awards me the opportunity.
Some of my relevant coursework (graduate level):
*Descriptive and Inferential Statistics (SPSS, R)
*Advanced Statistics (SPSS, R)
*Multivariate Statistics (SPSS, R)
*Math for Social Scientist (Matrix Algebra)
*Regressional Analysis III (R code and application)
*Race, ethnicity, and quantitative methodologies
HobbiesIn tutoring, I like to focus on identifying weaknesses and creating conscious learners. I promote ownership of education and confidence in the content area through positive reinforcement, engaging tutoring materials, and a warm attitude. I love what I do and I look forward to being a positive association for your child and education!
If you are an older student looking for undergraduate or graduate level assistance, it would be my pleasure to help.
My hobbies include reading, drawing, running, violin, and being with my daughter and dog.
