ExperienceI have over a decade of experience teaching history at the high school, middle college, community college, and university level. After twenty years of executive business management, I returned to teaching in 2004, teaching survey Western History, US History, African History, and World History classes in a community college and at two high schools. My teaching load for the Middle College at UNC-Greensboro, Strayer University, and Guilford Technical Community College was predominantly in American History, Western Civilization, and World History, and included online classes using Blackboard, eCollege Moodle and Edmodo technologies.
I have completed over 200 graduate hours in History, Political Science, Languages, and Sociology at Ohio State and Columbia University. My studies at Ohio State were supported by two years of language scholarships in Turkish, and I read Arabic, Italian, and Persian at Columbia University. I have been selected as a reader of AP World History exams for ETS since 2010.
HobbiesIn addition to teaching, I play chess and bridge, and read historical fiction (what else?). I have worked with students from an incredibly diverse range of incomes, ages, and educational backgrounds.
